Cruising the Baltic Sea | Tallinn
One of the easiest ways to travel to different countries relatively cheaply is the Silja line cruises to Tallinn, Riga, Helsinki, Åbro, and Åland.
These cruises are, in my opinion, best enjoyed with a night journey on the way over. As then it can be enjoyed with a layover for the day and than with an over the night journey on the return trip.
These cruises gives a relatively cheap option for students to travel to the Baltic Countries with their friends, or solo, depending upon ones wishes and can easily be accomplished over a weekend, and as such they are easily combined with studies. And for those that are inclined they can provide the opportunity to purchase a range of goods for tax-free prices.
The easiest way to book these journeys are through the Tallinksilja.se website where the destinations can easily be accessed from the travel menu. See the image below for an example from the mobile version.
Tallinn is the Capital city of Estonia, and it’s the most populous city in Estonia with its old town being an UNESCO world heritage sight.
Riga is the capital of Latvia, itself being slightly larger than Tallinn, it too boasts a UNESCO world heritage site in its center with its old town since the 1997.
Helsinki is the capital of Finland contains a myriad of Museums from the Sinebrychoff Art Museum built in 1842 to the modern Contemporary arts Museum, Kiasma.
One of my own personal favorite Travel Locations would be that of Tallinn.
This is as in Tallinn one can walk around in the old town is characterized by its medieval feel, upon my own journeys there I’ve enjoyed walking around its old town on its cobblestones looking at the picturesque buildings and eating some great meals att various locations. Some of my favorite activities have been to traverse up to the wall of Tallin’s still standing walls and towers for an experience of walking in steep steps and an authentic feel for the medivieal town that Tallin once was.
One of my favorite places to eat a meal has been att Olde Hansa for a welcoming further enhancing the medieval experience. With great mead mead, and roasted meats, it has yet to fail in bringing delight to my visits in Tallinn.
Another restaurant that I like to frequent upon my visits there has been “La Bottega” but that has only been for my own liking of varying wines at not exorbitant prices.
