Västgöta nation was founded in 1639 and is therefore one of Uppsala’s oldest nations. We are also one of the smallest, which means good opportunities to get to know the nation and some of its about 1000 members fast. VG also has the oldest nation house, with parts dating back to the 17th century.

Our daily activities include vegetarian soup lunch on week days, our Sunday brunch, and pub Djäknen, which is open Tuesday-Saturday. The easiest way to get to know VG is by visiting one of these, or even working a shift! We pride ourselves on having many members who excel at cooking, making our gasques something quite special.

If you are more interested in cultural activities, Västgöta has three choirs and a theatre group – all of which practise once a week. We also have a library (we mainly have books on art history and sustainable development). If you prefer sports, we have a sports team called VGIF.

Since the soup lunch is open Monday-Friday, our little orange castle by the river is almost always open and full of life. You are welcome here to study or just to hang out and have a coffee in one of our beautiful rooms!

If you are interested in more information about VG, email our First curator or just come visit us!
