Hostel Tips
Staying in a hostel can be interesting experience where you can meet longtime friends or make you realize there are 10 different snores a person can make.
Here are some hostel tips that are essentials after searching the rating section on Hostelworld that will make your stay great.
Hostel Facilities
When booking your stay at a hostel make sure to look at the facilities and services they provide. Ask yourself 3 important questions: Do they have Wi-Fi? Do they have a kitchen you can use? And the most important question Do they have lockers?
Always find a hostel that provide luggage storage and security lockers. You don’t want to worry about someone stealing your valuables.
A bonus to check out is if they provide free city maps and free tours. It helps figure out what activities you want to do while you’re visiting.
Must Haves Items!
During your stay there are a few things you must bring.
Eye mask and ear plugs: They are to prevent anyone from disturbing your sleep when turning on the light or being noisy in the room.
Padlock: (MUST HAVE). This keeps all your belongings safe in the lockers while you sleep or go into town
Flip flops: doesn’t matter the weather they are essential for showers. Let’s face it people can be gross in a shower.
Extra towel: A microfiber towel is always better to have because they are dry quicker and take up too much room in your luggage. It also doubles as a curtain for extra privacy
Utensils: It is always cheaper to buy food and make it at the hostels so bringing utensils and a small Tupperware can go a long way
Headlamp: Sometimes turning on the main light in a room full of sleepy people isn’t a good idea
Extra tote bag: It’s always good to take 1 or 2 tote bags to carry your groceries or keeping all your clothes together when heading to the shower. It is also good as dirty laundry bag
Condoms: (optional) This is self-explanatory
Water bottle: It’s always good to have water nearby
Earphones/Headphones: Again people can get noisy and its always better when you can hear your own music or white noise than a drunk person in the middle of the night.
Travel Adapter: Not all outlets are created equal
Detergent: If the hostel has a laundry facility and you absolutely have to wash your clothes its always good to carry your own detergent.
Powerbank: extra battery for that phone!
Backpack: It’s always better to stay at a hostel with a backpack rather than a luggage. Less noise and less weight
An open mind: Staying at hostels is having fun and getting to know a different side of you. Enjoy your time at one and who knows maybe you end up with a great story from your experience at a hostel.
